Unit 5: Introducing Music Performance - Learning Aim B

TASK 1: Rehearse the pieces that you have chosen for your audition.

During rehearsals you should demonstrate appropriate personal management skills, such as time management, concentration and focus, self-discipline and sensitivity towards others. You should also use musical performance skills in all rehearsals to ensure that the pieces are fully prepared for performance to an audience.

TASK 2: Perform the pieces you have rehearsed to an audience. Each performance will also be recorded.

Through your performances you will need to show that you have used the technical and interpretive skills you developed during your study for this unit. 

Your performance should also clearly show the particular stylistic qualities of the type of music being performed.    



Session 1

In this lesson i worked with Kiera (my partner) and tried putting the introduction together and playing in time for Say Something. We made it effective by the rhythm having a pace and making sure we just work on our song bit by bit. We kept going over our piece to try get it decent and together. Next lesson i want to work on putting the rest of our piece together and getting it so it sounds alright and try working on the next part of the song, then once we have finished learning the rest of our piece which we have chosen we can keep going over it and making it perfect but aslo developing our piece to make it better.

Session 2
In this weeks lesson i started to learn the beginning of my new piece, All of Me by John Legend. I am learning the beginning part of the song at the moment one hand at a time Soon I will be able to put the introduction together and then start learning the second part. But in a couple of lessons I will develop the song and make it different so its more interesting.

Session 3 In this lesson me and my partner Kiera starting putting our piece together and trying to play in time. We started playing the introduction together and it is coming together quite well. However we need to work even harder and play it all together so the pace fits. We are playing it at different paces so we get confident with the chords and it will look easy to play for the audience. In next lesson i am going to work on my skills and warm ups to help me make the music flow.

Session 6 In todays lesson me and kiera ran through our first piece (say something) and that is looking better and starting to become in time with each other. Next lesson me and kiera will try putting all of Say Something together and make sure its in time.

Session 7 In todays lesson, I worked on putting my piece together. (All of Me) I think it went alright because I started with the introduction first and now I have to work with the rest of the song. After I know it all, I want to develop and make it more interesting by adding in dynamics. dynamics are the louds and quiet, at the start of our piece will be a little bit quieter and then the chorus will be the loudest part to build up our piece.





Session 8 Todays lesson I started putting the intro together to get it in time. Next lesson I will work on the rest of the song (All of Me) to get it done and the timing good, so I am ready to perform.

Session 9 I played all of me in time and it flows now so I will be ready to record next week.
